Filming- Problems/Issues that Occured

When we first filmed our sequence, we put music in the background. After shooting we realised that we should not have copy right music. Therefore, we had to re-film our whole footage without any music.

Another issue that occurred was that our sequence did not save during editing and adjusting the order of our opening sequence. Therefore, we had to edit and adjust our sequence again.

 

 

Sound - Thriller Films

In the film inception we can hear that it is a lot of Non - Diegetic sound being played over the film. As this is a Thriller we can see that it leave the audience wanting more and tense. As this is only the trailer we can see that in the film there is a lot more to see and the sound helps us, as the audience, believe this.

Sound - our film

We are thinking of using Non- diegetic sound as we believe that it is going to add an intense mood and make the audience want to carry on watching the rest of the film. We are planning to have two different types of music played over each other as there are two different types of people within out film. I don't think our film should feature any voice overs because if we added it over the music it would bring the suspense down.

Institution - Our Film

The distributors most suited to our film would probably be Warner Bros. Pictures as they have distributed films such as Inception, The departed, Psyco,  The Loft, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises,  all the Fast and Furious films and many more. These are all films with the genre of Thriller and are similar to our film



20th Century Fox is also a film which would probably distribute our film as its distributed films like Taken, which is closely related to our film.

in this we can see that people prefer to watch Thrillers in the cinema. There is a big difference between the amount of people who watch films in the cinema to the amount of people who prefer to watch them with friends.

When we asked the public what there favourite genre of film, we can see it is close between Action and Thriller.  When we found out that more people preferred to watch Action that thriller we sat down and decided to stick with our idea of thriller as it wasn't close behind Action in our results.

When I asked the public how often they go to the cinema a month we can see that the main age group of people are 19-21 year old. When we averaged the whole of the 19-21 year olds we found that they go about 6 times a month.

We can see that when we asked boy and girls to rate the chance of them watching Thrillers, we can see that is more aimed at boys than girls.

We have decided to carry out a questionnaire and ask the public a few questions on what films they enjoy and who is most likely to watch what films.
I have put the results onto a spread sheet to work out the average for each question and I have then put the results onto charts so we can see what is most popular.
This helped us to continue with out idea of a thriller as we weren't sure weather to carry on with the genre thriller or to change it while we still could.

Divergent Opening Sequence

Divergent (2014) is the genre Thriller.
The Opening music of the film is bringing suspense and tension, making the audience wonder what the film is going to be about. The font and colour of the opening credits are slow, but they highlight exactly who is in the film while showing us the location and background of the film and what it may be based on. This will leave the audience wanting to watch more. It is quite dull colours which shows it might be old fashioned or have something to do with being quite spooky and have some action within the film. It is effective by how they make the background of the opening credits into the actual credits, using only basic lines but is very effective.

About the Genre - Thriller

Thriller is a genre of film, that uses suspense's, tension and excitement as its main features. it must be fast paced, have a lot of action within the film and have a plot twist. It is used to make the viewer wanting to know more and it keeps the audience alert and on the edge of their seats. Thrillers are often set in exotic locations, excepts certain sub- genres. The tension throughout the film is built on during the film and leads to a high climax. There are many sub-genres of thriller. There is Action thriller, Crime thriller, Science Fiction thriller, Psychological thriller, Religious thriller and many more. The tension in the film usually arises when the main character(s) are placed in a dangerous situation or mission where the escape seems impossible. Plots of thrillers involve characters which come into conflict with each other.

Target Audience

For our film the age of our target audience is 15 and over.
The gender that would watch our film would be both boys and girls.
our target audience are people who enjoy the genre of film, thriller. They would be interested in other Thriller films and would ideally be there favourite genre of film. They would also like Horror type films and other films they they feel involved in. There worst type of film genre would probably be Romance.
We are carrying out a Questionnaire to find out exactly who would watch our film and what films interest them in general.
