Divergent Opening Sequence

Divergent (2014) is the genre Thriller.
The Opening music of the film is bringing suspense and tension, making the audience wonder what the film is going to be about. The font and colour of the opening credits are slow, but they highlight exactly who is in the film while showing us the location and background of the film and what it may be based on. This will leave the audience wanting to watch more. It is quite dull colours which shows it might be old fashioned or have something to do with being quite spooky and have some action within the film. It is effective by how they make the background of the opening credits into the actual credits, using only basic lines but is very effective.

About the Genre - Thriller

Thriller is a genre of film, that uses suspense's, tension and excitement as its main features. it must be fast paced, have a lot of action within the film and have a plot twist. It is used to make the viewer wanting to know more and it keeps the audience alert and on the edge of their seats. Thrillers are often set in exotic locations, excepts certain sub- genres. The tension throughout the film is built on during the film and leads to a high climax. There are many sub-genres of thriller. There is Action thriller, Crime thriller, Science Fiction thriller, Psychological thriller, Religious thriller and many more. The tension in the film usually arises when the main character(s) are placed in a dangerous situation or mission where the escape seems impossible. Plots of thrillers involve characters which come into conflict with each other.

Target Audience

For our film the age of our target audience is 15 and over.
The gender that would watch our film would be both boys and girls.
our target audience are people who enjoy the genre of film, thriller. They would be interested in other Thriller films and would ideally be there favourite genre of film. They would also like Horror type films and other films they they feel involved in. There worst type of film genre would probably be Romance.
We are carrying out a Questionnaire to find out exactly who would watch our film and what films interest them in general.

What Went Well
Our video was entertaining towards the audience. We were aiming to make it as amusing as we could for the audience. I think the music in the back ground worked well because it showed tension and made it effective as if there was no music it would of made it boring and tedious. When we were editing and filming it we made good cuts when person A was going up the stairs. All the cuts that we made were mostly made at the right time and it looked very effective.

When we were planning how to film it we planned all the shots that we were going to make and where they were going to be and while we were filming it we were sticking to the plan. The last part of the video when we film who fed the fish, even though it was not clear what was happening, it is effective as it is causing enigma.

What To Improve
We need to improve on the lighting of where we film it. As in one shot where person B is talking to person A and you are unable to see person B as they are blocking the light so it is dark, we need to improve on this for the next time and make sure the lighting is ok. We also need to improve on the sound, the sound we used in our video was seen to be too dramatic and didn't fit with the actual actions of the video.

•  In this film, 21 Jump Street, we can see the storyline immediately. 
• We can see the two main characters, and how one is really popular at their school, and the other isn't.
